The role: Patent Licensing Manager

Our Patent team is an invigorating, inspiring team of innovators and attorneys who are passionate about future technologies and excited about resolving their ensuing legal challenges. As a member of this team, you will have the unique opportunity to develop and implement Google's strategy to protect, defend and capture the value of its patents. You dive into varied and interesting tasks that include patent-related protection, licensing, dispute resolution (pre-litigation and litigation), acquisition, deals and policy work. You will work with engineers, product developers, executives and other legal team members, and will be responsible for managing outside counsel.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate potential patent licensing opportunities. Lead licensing and cross-licensing deals.
• Negotiate and close resulting deals. Work with the patent and litigation teams in resolving patent disputes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA or BS degree (in lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).
• 4 years of relevant experience in Patent Licensing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering (or other relevant science), MBA and/or JD.
• Strong legal and business background, with 5 years of relevant licensing experience.
• Ability to understand, identify and properly address key patent licensing issues.
• Outstanding verbal communication skills, including experience in public speaking.
• Good business judgment.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
